i know this is old news and rather old cares. however, if your in the market for a used car take a look.
If someone wants to buy a muscle car they would look into a
Mustang or a Camaro. However if that same person had a family, they would have
to get a sedan or a SUV or even a mini-van. Isn’t there a way to get both a
muscle car and a sedan? Well there is now, the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP and the 2009
Dodge Charger SRT-8 are both great choices. But wait there is a sight problem,
which one to chose? In order to find
which muscle car sport sedan is the better buy, the two will be compared head
to head.
First up is the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP, if following the mainstream
of car buyers is something for you, then this is not your car. The G8 is a
fresh breathe of air to the car world, instead of seeing the same cars over and
over, this vehicle breaks the mold. With its 6.2 liters in the GXP, the all-aluminum V-8 is
rated at 415 horsepower to the rear wheels via an optional six-speed manual and
a very racy limited slip differential. This is all good for a quarter mile time
of 13 seconds flat at 108 MPH and a 0 to 60 MPH time of, with the luxury of
four doors. This isn’t your grandmothers Buick or even a hussy v-tech from
Honda; this is a fire breathing muscle car. Not only is this faster and more
lighter than a Charger, but it gets better gas with its 17 city and 25 highway.
While the charger gets a gas guzzling amount of 13 city and 19 highway. If you
want to be the coolest dad ever or simply love power and performance then the
G8 was made for you.
That should wrap up your
decision on what car to buy, oh wait I forgotten about the same- old,
everywhere you turn you see it Charger. Along with being a car you see
everywhere you go, the Charger is a lot heavy and chunkier than the G8. A
little known fact about the Charger, it was once a two door muscle coupe, but
now it’s a fat four door sedan. The SRT-8 has a 425 V-8 HEMI 6.1 Liter engine,
making it hit 0-60 in about 5 seconds. But all some of you hear was HEMI, the
Hemi name is heavy used in the SRT-8. From its side panels to its hood, engine
and even seats, Dodge doesn’t want you to forget you’re in a HEMI. Inside, the
Charger features a roomy interior but suffers from having plastics that don’t
look or feel particularly rich. Now let’s
get down with muscle car talk, in order to be a real muscle car you need to
have a six speed manual. But wait the SRT-8 doesn’t have one, too many that
doesn’t affect them, but to a real man not having a manual in a V-8 is like
wearing a dress in a crowded area.
There you have it a head to
head comparison of the 2009 Dodge SRT-8 Charger and the brilliant Pontiac G8
GXP. For a finale verdict let us review, both cars have a V8 powered engine.
Both vehicles are roomy enough to fit a family and have the power to take your
kids to school at 155mph. However, that is where the line is drawn; the G8 gets
better gas mileage, brakes better, has a better transmission and styling.
Overall it’s still not my choice to make, so which would you prefer the “I have
the same car as everyone else” Charger or the “yes! Fear my power and individuality”
G8 GXP.
stay tune, next time we are going to discuss the new 2014 chevy SS and the new 2015 SRT8 Barracuda
